Creating Opportunities in the AB Community

This has been a riot! “The Ab Experience”, began to reach out to members of the albinism community as the official publication for The Albinism Alliance Group (TAAG).Initially intended to be a print magazine called the experience in 2005, the idea has been revamped to catch up to the communication needs, post Covid-19 Global Pandemic. TAAG is creating a positive representation for AB People in the African American Community and around the world. We started with 3 members and we now have a collective over well over 5,000 individuals from a multitude of social platforms and online networks.

Others and I have worked to create a support network of and for persons with Albinism. AB (Albinism) people strive for excellence daily and we share a comradery that is unrivaled. We are connected globally from the U.S. to Africa, and when we come together, we have a blast.

While I continue to serveMs Rea Lowery CEO the community as the President of The Albinism Alliance Group (TAAG), there is nothing like staying connected in our community. With the internet and social media being readily accessible, it makes since to build this website along side www.albinism-alliance.org.  So the ab-experience podcast is a fairly new idea and being created to be an opportunity to highlight members of the community and shine a light on special interest projects, grassroots organizations and advocacy support issues, that may arise in our community. More than that no one will be ask to dim their light for anyone.

The show will focus on self-improvement through self-care. My efforts are focused on balancing the building blocks of life to make a mark in this world through leadership and building a successful collective the represents ALL communities with albinism.  As a result, we (my guests and I) will NOT be limiting ourselves when it comes to selecting subject matter for our show’s contents. AB people share a unique perspective on life, and we must talk about what’s important to the us and the community at large.  Join us and celebrate the beauty of #albinism by sharing your experience! We are MORE than the skin we are in. Podcast Coming Soon!

Albinism Defies Color

There is no time like the present to step up. I want to send a genuine thank you and congratulations for the persons in the albinism community, who assumed a leadership role and brought something new to the table, for the next generation. Without you many individuals wouldn’t have a blueprint to build their legacy on.

Being a leader is about more than delegating and requires attention to detail. Being able to listen to others, act with compassion and to be effective our leaders have to care what’s happening with their audiences and co hosts. Negative experiences happen and we can not avoid that, but what we can do is make the best of any situation by finding the positives that make a difference. If we do NOT have compassion for one another, how can we ask individuals outside our community to respect our position?

Moving forward we are hoping to start our originally pushed back airing of the show this year. Hoping 2024 redeems us all and everyone can get to the place where they are most comfortable, with themselves. This takes patience and the ability to look inward to observe if we are being the best version of ourselves. For this good self-care is a recipe for greatness.

I am learning to be less critical of myself and this helps me to be less critical of others, as well. Taking this unique perspective, helps me find the world an interesting place. More than that I am taking the initiative to carve out a place for myself in this world, in yet another area. I believe opportunities are not simply granted but we have to create them for ourselves.

This is the legacy that I want to be remembered for. My purpose and value do not come from acceptance or approval from others, but by divine favor and being blessed by the work that I do, in the albinism community. Its a privilege to share my personal experiences on business, advocacy, social adjustment, creativity, professionalism and navigating the world  as a person with low-vision.

I hope that you can join us for the show and if you can’t listen live, the most recent show will be available for playback. Check us out an let us know how we are doing .

We are more than the skin
we are in!

It’s a given that I am a person with albinism, but we do NOT all look the same. Many of us think differently and handles life’s gifts and challenges differently. This platform will allow AB People to engage in conversation about the ups and downs of life in general, but from solutions oriented perspective that help reduce barriers to career training, entrepreneurship, family relations and social advocacy for creating content about albinism.  Let’s stand together and create a torch for the next generation. Instead of asking for change, let’s be the change we want to see.
